Neka Zook is anything but a normal individual. She’s a retired mid-sixties woman who writes a blog titled Life and Other Oddities. She never thought this odd little blog would lead her years later to become somewhat of a town celebrity after bumbling her way into a number of the Caption County Sheriff’s Department’s cases and unexpectedly helping to solve them with absolutely no recognizable aptitude whatsoever...and often at the frustration of Detective Samuel Martin who is highly trained to solve the crimes within the community and who keeps butting heads with this interfering, stubborn, yet well-meaning retired woman who can’t seem to keep her nose out of the crime business.

It appears at the start of this year that Neka is a little bit wiser and determined to mind her own business. Detective Martin, who has been through all of Neka’s mishaps, is relieved to hear she is finally behaving herself. However, habits are hard to break for Neka Zook who looks at things from a slightly different perspective than others. When she hears of human remains found on an estate whose family she is well familiar with, once again she is up to her neck in an investigation she has no business being a part of…and like anyone unequipped to handle danger, she is headed for disaster on a case that will prove to be Detective Martin’s most challenging.
